He currently personally performs more than 150 lumbar operations per year (fusion and motion preservation surgeries) and more than 40 cervical spine surgeries, including disc prostheses.
Career path
Dr. Oliver studied Medicine at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 1977 he began his specialization in Neurosurgery at the National Department of Neurosurgery in Madrid under the supervision of the internationally renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Sixto Obrador. After completing his studies in Neurosurgery in Madrid, Dr. Oliver joined the newly established Neurosurgery Service of the Sant Pau Hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. During the first stage of this Department, Dr. Oliver assumed responsibility for implementing new techniques learned in Stockholm (Sweden), Montreal (Canada), and Saint Louis and Pittsburg (USA). Until April 2012 he was Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Mútua de Terrassa University Hospital and Parc Taulà Hospital.
